This is a period for learning to embrace our emotions–to understand them, go with our feelings, and express them on a social level. Jupiter in Scorpio encourages us to grow and expand on an emotional plane, and because Scorpio is focused and deep, it stimulates us to develop intimacy–with ourselves and with others. Where Jupiter is currently transiting is generally where we are inclined to find our joy.
With Jupiter in Scorpio, we attract the most success and good fortune when we put our all into a project or undertaking, and when we use our magnetic powers to heal others. Watch for obsessive behavior that is to our detriment or an attitude that if it feels good, we should just do it. (Fortunately, Saturn`s concurrent transit of Capricorn this year will help us simplify).
Jupiter moves through the intense and passionate sign of Scorpio until November 8th, encouraging us to go after our hearts` desires. As Jupiter moves through Scorpio, we learn and understand that to heal, we have to cut out the fluff and focus on what genuinely matters to us. Because Jupiter`s nature is extravagant, we must guard against too much. Moderation doesn`t come naturally to either Jupiter or Scorpio.
This can be a potent time for healing, improving, and transforming. With Scorpio, there is transformation. We`re not interested in band-aid fixes, and we`re more willing than usual to enter into a crisis so that we can effect change. Middle of the road is no longer attractive to us at this time. Themes include sex, money, and power, as well as death and rebirth, and we can be particularly fascinated with these topics during Jupiter`s thirteen-month transit of Scorpio.
This is a fabulous period for looking at the darker corners of life — and of ourselves — from a new perspective or for purging, depending on what we find! It can also be a time for finding valuable resources that were hidden from our view or that we previously overlooked, as well as for awakening talents within ourselves and, perhaps especially, within others.
For most of 2018, eclipses fall along the Leo-Aquarius axis. These eclipses are about striking a better balance between romance and friendship, and between expressing ourselves in personal and impersonal ways. They serve to thrust us into a state of heightened awareness of flaws in our friendships, attitudes towards others, and group activities. Changes are afoot! With the North Node in Leo for much of 2018, we are challenged to take more pride in ourselves as unique, creative, loving individuals. The North Node moves from Leo to Cancer in November. As well, the first eclipse in a set along the Cancer-Capricorn axis occurs in July, introducing the beginning of new themes. We are called upon to feed our foundation–all of that which we call home, including the foundation we have built inside of ourselves, needs to be tended to and honored. We need to pay more attention to our instincts, our deepest needs, and our feelings; and to recognize the importance of our family and our personal circle of friends and the security, sense of belonging, and safety we derive from them.
Jupiter moves into Sagittarius on November 8th and will continue to transit Sagittarius until early December 2019. Sagittarius is where Jupiter feels very comfortable as it rules the sign. In 2018, Jupiter in Scorpio forms some empowering aspects with Neptune, Pluto, Chiron and the true North Node. This is a period of widening our minds through unusual or new experiences, more imagination, and increased faith in others, life itself, and ourselves. We`re likely to enjoy opportunities to free ourselves of restrictive and negative attitudes that have been undermining our progress.
Saturn transits its own sign, Capricorn, in 2018. Saturn entered Capricorn on December 19th, 2017, and will transit the sign until the year 2020. Saturn does very well in Capricorn, as its ruler, although it can be a somewhat insular, narrowly focused, and perhaps strict or stern influence. This is a time for checking in with ourselves and the structures of our lives to see if we`re following the rules and meeting our responsibilities. Taurus, Virgo, Scorpio, and Pisces receive stabilizing energy. Aries, Cancer, and Libra may initially balk at what feels too restrictive. Capricorn gets a bit of both.
Uranus is transitioning from Aries to Taurus in 2018, and as such, spends part of the year in each sign. Uranus continues to transit Aries until mid-May when it enters Taurus. Uranus returns to complete its journey of Aries from November 6, 2018, to March 6, 2019, after which it re-enters Taurus for the long haul. Uranus in Taurus is bound to shake up our attitude towards money and personal possessions, and it`s a time for bold innovations in these areas.
Saturn will eventually meet up with Pluto in the sign, but not until 2020! In fact, Saturn doesn`t form very many major aspects to the outer planets during its transit through Capricorn.
